Last days of hair for stever

Well, it looks like this will be the last you see of me with hair for a while. Woohoo! Not like I have a lot to begin with. Oh and Johanna wanted to take a picture showing how much I've improved since that awful picture of me from a week ago. Wow.

So while I was vacantly pulling on my sideburn hairs this afternoon I found myself holding onto a small bunch of them. I tried a few other spots and sure enough, the hair came out with little resistance. I was wondering when this would happen. I'd been pulling on them every few days just to check. I should have suspected something in the last few days since I haven't shaved in several days and I look like I only have a day's worth of beard. At least that will be one advantage during this. No need to shave!

Now the trick will be to shave it all off before it really starts falling out. I don't want to wake up one morning with hair all in my bed. Oh, and some hairs come out while others don't. For example, my chest hair comes out, but my arm and leg hairs don't. It will be interesting to see what I look like next week.

By the way, I just wanted to let you guys know that I read every single comment you guys post on my blog, even if I don't respond. I get an email each time a new comment appears, so you can be sure I never miss any. You guys have been super supportive so far and it makes my day when I get that email announcing someone has commented on my blog. It's also probably the easiest way to show your support, which is something I get asked about occasionally since it's not really feasible to have everyone visit me in the hospital or at home with my immune system so low.

So if you want to let me know that you're thinking about me, send me an email or just comment on my blog! It really does make my day. Ciao for now.

So you have to go through this chemo again before the transplant? Good Lord.

You sounded great on the phone. You're a great actor.

Supposedly there are people that actually have so much hair they pay to have it removed by a "laser".

It's a crazy world.

Hi, Steve, glad you were able to get on and catch us up. Jeff and Nicholas will be jealous if you grow back a full head of hair! I'm in Albuquerque for awhile watching the remodeling of our house. We finally decided to go ahead and get it done and maybe we'll even move in! We talked to Rian in his hospital room yesterday, he appears to be recovering. Now he has a "badge of honor" or scar of honor. We're thinking of you and pulling for you all the time.

Wow, I sneak away from the computer for a week end and, sha-zam (!) 3 new post!!!

I think it's important for you to know that hair or no, I'll always wink at you from across the room when Johanna's not looking ;-)

Well, the room looks nice, too bad you had to go back so soon but at least the digs are a little more swanky (check out the coat rack - I'm gonna snag it, pawn it, and give the proceeds to the the LLS... cool?).

Anyhoo, hope you're feeling better soon, you already look it! Give 'em hell and keep your head up :-D

Some of us have managed to lose our hair unaided ;-).

BTW, when you mentioned that some hair come out and others don't and went onto describe chest/arm/leg hair, I was wondering how far you would go. I know it's on other people's minds as well, they are just afraid to ask ;-).

Once this is all over you might have more hair than ever before. My mom now has waves and she is excited about it =)

Take care,
Vanesa

Comment! Comment! Comment!
Gabe asked if you would save some of the chest hair for him. Some sort of costume he's working on...maybe he's gonna dress up as a man next halloween?
Jason Mraz was in today, I'm sure you can picture the vibe in the office :)
Keep posting, we're all keeping up with your progress.

Yikes, Google's not liking OpenID right now! Third time's the charm, my apologies if this comment posts multiple times, I keep ending up at an error page... bad gateway yadda yadda.

Anyhow, what I wanted to really say was thanks for keeping us all updated via your blogging, Steve. We miss you around the office, let us know if you're allowed a visit from the gang. :-)

Dude, if I didn't know any better, I'd think you were going for a Jason Statham look-alike contest! Next thing, you'll be pulling off some crazy kung-fu moves, and driving like the Transporter.

Brian & I hope to come see you tonight if that's ok. Sorry to hear you're dealing with the infection. It doesn't sound entirely unexpected, so at least they know what to do. Mom said your fever is going down so that's good! We'll see you tonight. p.s. St. Thomas was fun!

Hi Steve, just wanted to drop a line and say hello.

I'm a friend of Farookh (and Kartik), and we've met on a couple of occasions -- but that was over a year ago.

Take care,

Steve, are you still drinking that Total Protein stuff? Have you tried Muscle Milk? I think it tastes much better than all the other protein drinks. Let me know if you want me to bring over a case of premixed servings for you to try.

We read your blog often, always in our thoughts. Your Uncle Leon's hair is getting longer, he is getting a head start on the pony tail, but is fussing about the in-betweenness. You'll look great with a ponytail. Someone else mentioned curls, I don't know about that.

WELL I did not do chemo, but I have been radiated .... down there and the hair did comeback thank goodness. For what it is worth, If it will help your spirits I will shave my head and keep it shaved until you are finished with Chemo. While I will act alone on this, I think it would be better if more were willing to go bald for team- Steve!!!Be strong my friend.
